I was in San Francisco a few weeks ago having a conversation with a founder whose company is doing over $3 million a month.
I asked him the best lesson he’d ever gotten from a mentor.
He thought for a second and said three words.
“Build a big fire.”
That was it.
Then he explained.
Most people spend their life managing a small flame. Just enough heat to survive. Just enough light to see the next step. They protect it. They ration it. They’re terrified of it going out.
The people who build extraordinary lives do the opposite. They throw everything on the fire. Their energy. Their attention. Their ambition. Their love. They build something so big and so hot that other people want to come stand next to it.
You don’t get warmth from a small fire. You don’t get seen by a small fire. You don’t change anyone’s life with a small fire.
Build the big one.
Here’s your challenge this week.
Look at where you’ve been rationing yourself. Could be your energy, your voice, your work, your love. Where have you been protecting a small flame instead of feeding a big fire?
Pick one place. Throw more wood on it this week.
See what happens when you stop being careful with your own life.
